Letter to the Editor: Republican reader ready to vote for Greg Ballard

In recent months, I have been struggling with who to vote for in the Indiana Secretary of State Primary Election. I cannot in good conscience cast one more vote for our current Secretary of State, Diego Morales.

The office of Secretary of State should be one of the most steady and professional roles in Indiana government. It oversees elections, business filings, and important public records. It is fundamentally an administrative job, and it should be run that way.

Unfortunately, this office is currently filled to the brim with corruption and political incompetence.

But Beau Bayh isnโ€™t the answer, either. This ultimately left me with the decision to abstain, which leaves me yet again disappointed in our state government.

But then it happened. Former Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard announced his campaign for Indiana Secretary of State as an Independent.

At a time when trust in our government is strained, we donโ€™t need theatrics in election oversight. We need professionalism. We need predictability. We need someone who understands that this office should operate calmly and competently, regardless of which party is in power.

Like many others, I have never split my ticket in my life. But Greg Ballard brings steady leadership. For an office this important, thatโ€™s exactly what Indiana should expect. Join me in splitting your ticket to cast an important vote for Integrity. Letโ€™s set the standard for what Indiana deserves.
